UCTD – Undifferentiated Connective Tissue Disease

UCTD is an autoimmune disease that doesn’t fit into a specific category hence the term undifferentiated. A person with UCTD will often have signs or symptoms of a connective tissue disease, but not necessarily the classic features of one in particular. Some people with UCTD will find that their symptoms will eventually turn into a specific connective tissue disease, (usually within five years of diagnosis), however others may never develop a specific disease and remain with UCTD.

My experience of UCTD

Suspected UCTD is my most recent diagnosis. It took me a long time to get a diagnosis due to my other conditions and because I don’t have the classic features of a specific connective tissue disease. However a fair number of my symptoms haven’t fitted in with my conditions for some time and that alongside various abnormal blood tests has led my specialists down this path.

I am still extremely new to the world of UCTD and am still learning what it all means. So time will tell what I find out … watch this space!
